FAQ’s

How do we determine our skin type?

The biggest myth in the skincare industry: We don’t have a fixed skin type! The skin is constantly changing – based on the environment, lifestyle, hormones, genetics, the microbiome, stress and the products used. It is therefore not useful to rigidly categorize the skin. Our skin can be dehydrated and oily at the same time, or inflamed, dehydrated and barrier-damaged one month, and react completely differently the next. It adapts continuously and can even change several times a day.

Should children use skin care products?

In short: No! Children and teenagers between the ages of 12 and 15 should not worry about complex skin care routines. Excessive use of products, unnecessary serums or aggressive ingredients can damage the skin barrier. If the skin shows changes during puberty, they should first consulta doctoror nutritionist. A healthy diet, sufficient sleep, good hygiene (especially if you do a lot of sport and sweat) and a simple 3-step routine – cleansing, moisturizing and sun protection – are completely sufficient. Products such as retinol or highly concentrated serums are usually superfluous at this age and can cause damage.

What does “skin overload” mean?

“Skin overload” describes the excessive demands placed on the skin by too many products or changing applications. This often results from unreliable sources such as influencers who are not sufficiently trained in skin science. Products that are not tailored to individual skin needs can damage the skin barrier. A damaged skin barrier leads to transepidermal water loss (TEWL), making the skin more sensitive and susceptible to inflammation, environmental stress or even conditions such as rosacea, acne or eczema.
