SENSITIVE SKIN

What does that mean?

Hypersensitivity of the skin describes a condition in which the skin is overly sensitive or reactive to external stimuli. This condition is often referred to as irritant contact dermatitis, in which an inflammatory reaction occurs. In contrast to an allergy, this is not an immunological reaction, but a hypersensitivity to environmental factors or skin care products.

How does that manifest itself?

Symptoms of hypersensitive skin can be

- Redness, swelling and itching

- Burning and stinging

- Rashes or hives

- Damaged skin barrier, which can lead to cracks, blisters or even bleeding

- Dryness, scaling and irritation in certain areas of the skin

What can I do?

- Avoid heatDo not use hot water and protect the skin from heat sources.

- Gentle care productsChoose products with a balanced pH value that are specially formulated for sensitive skin.

- Sun protectionUse sun creams that are suitable for sensitive skin.

- Avoid irritantsAvoid products with perfume, retinol, active ingredients and aggressive peelings.

Mild, protective care and the avoidance of potential irritants can help to soothe and stabilise the skin.
